Generac Activation Code

I've spent 2 days with the Generac Activation team on this issue. Just installed a 20KW factory refurb. (Honeywell branded) 20KW unit. Model 7063R1 It came fully factory crated, with all of the factory warning stickers, manuals, and the big yellow label over the controller explaining the activation routine. Upon commissioning, the controller never went to the Activation routine, just the normal start-up wizard. Generator runs fine, works in Auto mode, and has no particular issues. It's obvious the factory never wiped the controller, which I actually appreciated as it told me the previous running time, etc.

So, I now want to get the unit registered for the limited warranty. As the controller never performed the activation routine, I called the activation phone number and explained the situation. They did a search of the S/N and said it's still registered to the previous owner. The Generac rep gave me their email address and told me to send the Model, S/N, Location, and Owner information, and said I would receive my activation code as well as a Hard Reset procedure which would make the controller prompt for activation. The procedure was to turn the generator breaker to OFF, disconnect the 12v battery, pull the 7.5A fuse, pull the T1 fuse in the T.S. Well, this procedure only resets some things, and forces the install wizard, but NOT the activation routine.

The install manual actually states that the controller will never again ask for activation once it had been done, even if removing all power from the unit. I report all of this back to the Generac rep, who then says this is all they can do for me, I must now call in a Generac Dealer. I'd be interested in comments on this.
